The Ziedlejas wellness resort from Krimulda parish, in Latvia in a beautiful place where guests can escape the city and their daily rituals and enjoy the tranquility of nature. The resort is constantly evolving, with new sections and amenities being added over time.
In 2020 studio Open AD built here three small cabins which can be rented individually and where guests can relax and enjoy a perfectly view of the wonderful surrounding landscape. The cabins have fully glazed fronts and the panoramic view is actually replacing the TV, offering visitors a new kind of experience.
The cabins share the same design and proportions. They’re all clad in Corten steel panels and glass which gives them a modern aesthetic which is inspired by nature as well as by local culture. The main concept that this entire resort is built on is one that aims to keep tradition and core values alive but to adapt them to the modern needs of the visitors. The conditions are up to standard both aesthetically and ergonomically and the minimalism suits this place in every way.
The intentional simplicity of the cabins puts an emphasis on nature and the wonderful calmness and tranquility that surrounds them. This truly is the perfect destination if you want to recharge your batteries and rediscover your core values. On the exterior, the use of Corten steel adds a beautiful patina to the cabins and inside the cabins offer a very tactile experience. They have simple floors of polished concrete, aged wood and brick surfaces and an intentionally weathered feel even though everything is new and in perfect shape.
The furniture was custom made to fit the small interior, including space-efficient pieces such as folding double beds and pop-up tables. They also have mezzanine floors with extra sleeping areas. Outside, a shared terrace garden provides all the fresh herbs for tea and sauna rituals.
