It’s a fairly small area but it’s so rich in beautiful and charming details. We’re talking about a lakefront property that was recently transformed by interior designer Esther Dormer into a glamorous vacation home, a place where family and friends can gather together and enjoy the magnificent views and the beautiful surrounding landscape. The remodel brought this place to life and turned into one of the most inspiring and memorable little retreats you’ll ever come across.
This charming retreat is located near Cheat Lake in West Virginia, US. It’s on the water’s edge and it has a magnificent view. Part of the renovation plan was to give the house large windows which can take better advantage of this wonderful scenery. As you’ll see for yourself by browsing these lovely pictures, this vacation home may look bare and simple on the outside but it’s very glamorous and sophisticated on the inside.
The front entrance is marked by a simple white door. The simplicity and flatness of the grey facade is broken by the lovely windows with awnings and flower planters hanging on the outside and the roof takes an asymmetrical shape for an added layer of style. At the back of the house there’s a small covered area like a little porch with a seating area. On top of it there’s an open terrace which acts as an extension of the upper floor.
The true character of the house is uncovered once you step inside. A whole new world is revealed, one that’s sophisticated, extravagant but also very inviting and cozy. The eclectic interior design is a combination of modern and vintage details which complement one another and give this place a ton of charm and character. One of the most interesting spaces is the kitchen area which features a glass garage door and a gorgeous array of vintage chandeliers hanging above the wooden island.
You’ll notice that each individual space is unique and filled with all sorts of little details that help it stand out but also maintain a cohesive look and feel throughout the house. There’s a welcoming living room with a circular area rug, a sculptural coffee table with a round glass top and three comfy sofas arranged around it. There’s also a bedroom with multiple bunk beds which can accommodate large groups of guests and a master bedroom with a very relaxing and serene aesthetic. All things considered, this small place makes a big statement and is one of our favorite vacation homes ever.
