Set on top of a hill in Sands Point, US, this modern residence has really cool views of the water and also the open landscape. It was designed and built in 2019 by studio HMA2 Architects and it serves as a family resort. It’s both a beautiful everyday home and a really great seasonal retreat for family and friends. It’s been designed to be flexible and diverse.
The interior of the residence has an open and airy feel and this applies to all the different areas. There’s also a distinction made between the social spaces and the private areas. The first ones feel big and spacious and are intersected with one another. For instance, the living and dining areas are one and the same same and they’re also connected to an open eat-in kitchen. In contrast with this, the private spaces feel more contained and intimate.
In total this stylish residence has 6 bedrooms, 6.5 baths, a combined social area, 3 lounge spaces, a game room, a wine cellar and a garage. All of these functions are neatly packed within a modern and eye-catching shell made of wood, glass and metal. As you may have notices, the angles and the overall geometry of this space are quite interesting. The ceiling is angles, the walls too and even the windows seem to bend. This adds a dynamic twist to the simple and modern design of this place.
