The renovation of this former triplex from Montreal, Canada is as inspiring as projects get. Completed in 2021 by studio Dupont Blouin Architects, this place got a complete makeover. The designers went with a very chic and stylish aesthetic inspired by the mid-century modern style. It’s a design that puts an emphasis on the palette of materials and the finishes used throughout the house and highlights their natural and unique beauty.
This now gorgeous family home has three floors including a basement level. They were all redesigned and reimagined using materials like colorful terrazzo for the floors, copper for the fixtures, lots of wood for the custom-made furniture, marble for the countertops and various textiles with warm and pleasant textures. These elements combined give the house a very stylish and glamorous look but also make it feel very inviting.
The social areas were reimagined to have a sort of restaurant-based type of feel. The open kitchen features a curved island and a magnificent U-shaped suspended installation with soft lighting and plants hanging down on all sides. The living room has a cozy lounge-inspired look with seating areas that feel intimate and comfortable. The lighting on this top floor is really nice and the skylight above the kitchen island is a big part of that.
This is designed to be a very flexible type of home with a total of 6 entrances on its 3 floors. This creates multiple access points for the parents, the kids as well as their guests. The first floor is where the bedrooms are situated. It has a connection to a lovely wooden deck and to the backyard. There’s also a basement which can function as an independent studio for guests.
