The idea of living in harmony with nature is making a comeback lately. We’re starting to rediscover our love for the open world and our appreciation for raw and untouched beauty. The Stone Lodges project is based on that very idea.
It was developed by studio Earthitects and it’s located in India, in a fairly remote location. It’s comprised of a series of residential spaces that are all part of a complex and that are surrounded by lots of lush vegetation, trees and greenery.
The concept at the base of this project was to create structures that are in harmony with their natural surroundings and that don’t try to tame the space around them but rather to preserve it. These dwellings are designed around nature which is why there was no attempt to terraform the landscape or to get rid of the existing trees. Instead, these were used as guidelines for the design.
The design overall is defined by a series of key characteristics. It’s simple, organic, bold and robust. The dwelling were also designed to be sustainable so they use upcycled wood and other materials such as stone and clay. The entire complex was designed on three-layered levels. The first one contain the residence areas and they’re really welcoming. The remaining level is comprised of the exterior deck areas, the lovely wooden gazebo and the beautiful infinity pool framed by lots of trees and vegetation.
