A beautiful view should never go to waste. There’s a lot of different ways in which you can take advantage of a nice panorama, whether it involves big windows so you can admire the scenery from inside or some sort of dedicated outdoor area.
Let’s see how studio Bauen dealt with this challenge when designing this lovely house in San Bernardino, Paraguay.
One of the priorities, in this case, was to make minimal interventions to the site and to design a house that doesn’t disturb its surroundings but rather coexists with them. As for the form, the architects chose a very simple approach. They created a house that’s basically a 3 x 3 grid, a collection of 9 sections arranged within a big square. All the modules except for the one in the middle are very flexible and can easily be connected to one another or can change functions based on the owner’s immediate needs.
The house itself is built mainly out of concrete and has been embedded into the land in a way that makes it look like it’s floating. The floor and the roof are two large slabs of concrete parallel to one another and they create a nice continuity between the spaces as well as between the indoor and the outdoor areas. The infinity pool wraps around one of the corners and has a really nice view over the tree canopies and towards the horizon.
