Casa Bianca which literally translates as The White House is not the presidential landmark but actually a beautiful and serene family house in Ahmedabad, India which is home to three separate generations all living harmoniously under one roof.
It was completed in 2021 by The Grid Architects and its name reflects the simplistic and pure palette of materials and colors which define its design.
The house sits on a corner plot bordering the road and its main facade is facing East which gives it a lovely sunrise view early in the mornings. Of course, the climate conditions in this area mean high temperatures most of the time so the design had to take this into consideration. With that in mind, the architects gave the house recessed windows and made sure that its indoor spaces get to enjoy multiple connections to the outdoors which optimized cross ventilation.
The simple and mostly white exterior of the house sets the tone for a very serene and airy type of residence. This is confirmed by the beautiful interior which makes use of simple and earthy color tones and features natural stone floors but also warm wooden accents which help the open spaces feel very welcoming. The ground floor is where the social areas are situated while the private spaces are positioned upstairs along with a media room, a library and a series of terraces.
