Nothing compared to the unique beauty of natural flowers. They’re delicacy, magnificent colors and magnificent shapes are extraordinary but faux flowers have their own way of being special and beautiful. Flower papers in particular have a certain charm that’s difficult to resist. The best part is anyone can learn how to make paper flower bouquets. Here’s one way to do it:
Materials needed for this paper flower bouquet:
- patterned paper
- pencil
- pin
- silk ribbon
- vase
- pinking shears
- polyester sphere
- scissors
- hot glue gun
How to craft this paper bouquet:
Step 1: Trace circles on the paper
Lay the paper flat on your table and trace circles on it using a pencil. You can use a glass as your template. The circles should measure around 5 cm (2”) in diameter if you want to make the bouquet about the same size as this one.
Step 2: Cut out the circles and trim them
Use your regular scissors to cut out all the paper circles, then use and pinking shears to give them a trim. These are similar to regular scissors but instead of straight blades they have a sawtooth pattern. They’re really great for various crafts and projects involving paper.
Step 3: Shape the flowers using the pencil
Now that all the paper circles are prepared it’s time to shape them into little flowers. This is super easy and all you need is a pencil. Position the pencil in the middle of a paper circle (the flat/eraser end) and then fold the paper around it. Gently press the paper with your fingers and form the petals until the paper retains this shape.
Step 4: Glue the flower onto the styrofoam ball
Prep your hot glue gun, put a little dab of glue onto the styrofoam ball, then gently press your first paper flower on that spot. Keep it there for a few seconds until the glue starts to harden.
Step 5: Repeat until your cover the ball in flowers
Now that you know how to make the paper flowers and how to attach them to the styrofoam ball, repeat this process until you cover the entire surface of the ball in flowers. Place them fairly close together so you don’t have any visible empty spaces.
Step 6: Add a little silk bow
Take a piece of silk ribbon and form a little bow. Then use a pin to stick it into the styrofoam ball making sure the paper flowers don’t cover it up. Cut off the excess ribbon
Step 7: Place your paper flower bouquet on the vase
All that’s left t do now is take your beautiful paper flower bouquet and gently place it on top of the vase. It should stay in place by itself but if you want to you can also stick a skewer into the styrofoam ball so you have something to anchor the bouquet with. Either way, that’s it! As you can see for yourself, making a paper flower bouquet is actually quite easy. Consider making something like this as a gift next time you want to offer someone flowers.
