Upon approaching this modern farmhouse what immediately stands out is the color palette used for the exterior design.
It’s a combination of the classic black and white tones but it also plays with neutral gray and warm wood elements. This color palette helps to accentuate the architecture and it also gives the exterior a modern appearance.
This modern English farmhouse is located in Barrington Village, Illinois and is the result of a collaboration between studios Grand Tradition Homes and Kate Marker Interiors. They combined their efforts to create a home that’s as cozy as it is stylish. Large windows and openings both with and without wooden shutters and barn-style doors allow the sunlight to get inside, creating a bright and airy ambiance.
The front entrance is simple and modest, market by a single glass panel and wood frame door with a black awning. It leads into an open-space area where the dining room is one the left and a staircase leading upstairs is on the right. A large wine rack doubles as a space divider.
The large and open kitchen is one of the most impressive spaces in the house. The grey kitchen cabinets contrast with the white walls, the wooden floor, and ceiling beams add warmth to the space, and the marble waterfall island and backsplash balance it all out with their elegance.
The living room has the same bright and open vibe but also look and feels very cozy and welcoming thanks to the whitewashed fireplace, the wooden beams and also the soft textures and finishes added by the furnishings.
Moreover, the brass fittings help to unify all these areas in a very chic way. An emphasis on texture is also shown in areas like the bedroom, the bathrooms and even the laundry room or the hallways.
