Which Pellet Grill Should I Choose: Traeger Pro Series 34 VS Traeger Pro 575

It’s almost grilling season so that means it’s time to start thinking about BBQ grills. There are so many grills that you can buy on the market, but today, we are going to talk specifically about 2 pellet grills, the Traeger Pro Series 34 and the Traeger Pro 575. We will talk about these two grills side by side today.

Traeger Pro Series 34 VS Traeger Pro 575

Traeger Pro Series 34

Pros and Cons of Traeger Pro Series 34

Pros and Cons of Traeger Pro Series 34

Pros:

  • Multiple cooking methods – This is a pellet grill, which means it’s very versatile. Want to make braised ribs? You can with this grill. Want to make smoked sausages? You can with this grill. You want to roast a chicken? Again, you can with this grill. The many possible methods of cooking on this grill is the reason why it sells well.
  • Huge cooking space – You never have to worry about running out of space with 884 square inches. You can literally make food for a group of 10 people without waiting for certain meats to be done so you can throw on the other ones. There’s also a rack for indirect cooking so that’s even more space you have for cooking.
  • Cost-Efficient Smoking – The pellets burn slowly, which makes them both commercially viable and eco-friendly. This saves time so you don’t unnecessarily burn pellets, whether you are grilling at low heat or smoking. Just two pounds of pellets will be expended an hour at high temperatures. It’s just a pound of pellets at medium heat. You burn just half a pound of wood pellets in an hour at low temperatures.

Cons:

  • Max Degrees is 450F – If you’re looking for a higher temp grill, this may not be the grill for you.
  • Small Secondary grill grate – While this grill has 884 square inches, if you were hoping for a bigger secondary grate, you’re out of luck as it’s very small.
  • Temps do fluctuate – If you’re looking for a grill that has stable temperatures then you’re looking in the wrong place as the grill does fluctuate 15 degrees or so.

Size

As you can see, it’s a fairly large pellet grill that weighs a hefty 136 pounds. The dimensions of this grill is 53” W by 27” D by 49” H.   This grill also boasts 884 square inches for cooking, so there’s plenty of space

Traeger Pro 575 Pellet Grill

Traeger Pro 575 Wi-Fi Controlled Wood Pellet Grill

The Traeger Pro 575 grill has a lot of features that you want in a modern pellet grill. Like the first model we discussed, it is an electric wood pellet grill so keep that in mind when you’re in the market for either or.

Pros and Cons of Traeger Pro 575

Pros:

  • Starts quickly – With this grill, it starts very quickly so you don’t have to wait for it to “warm-up” and such. Once it reaches the temperature that you need, you can start cooking your food right away! This is a benefit that it has over the Traeger Series Pro 34 because it does not start up quickly.
  • Wireless control – This model is a newer Traeger pellet grill, so it comes with Wi-Fi connectivity and an app where you can control the temp as well as checking the timer remotely. You do not need Wi-Fi connection for the temperature to be accurate.
  • Good Temperature Control – This grill retains heat very well and can up go to 450 degrees Farenheight.  This is possible because of the D2 controller that comes with this grill which operates with Wi-Fire (the Wi-Fi app). This model handles better control of temperature vs the Traeger Pro Series 34 grill we talked about. This could be an influencing factor when it comes between the two.

Cons:

  • Expensive – This model is much pricier than the Traeger Pro Series 34 as you can expect to pay at least $799.99 for it, whereas the Series 34 is $200 cheaper which is $599.99.  Price may be a factor when it comes to considering pellet grills for your home.
  • Only runs on wood pellets – You can’t use propane or charcoal to run this grill. It literally only runs on wood pellets. You’ll have to buy large bags of it for at least $20, from the Traeger brand only. If you use other brands, there’s reports of it not functioning properly etc.
  • No high heat – Just like the Traeger Pro Series 34 grill, this model also doesn’t hold high heat well. It maxes out at 450 degrees F, so if super hot grills are more your style, these pellet wood grills may not be for you.

Size

The Traeger Pro 575 has 575 square inch of cooking space so it’s obviously smaller than the Traeger Pro Series 34, but it should still provide you with ample amount of room.  It’s also 128 pounds, so it’s lighter than the Traeger Pro Series 34.  Like the other one, it also has an 18-pound hopper so that you can change the pellet flavor while you are cooking something.
